Cookie Policy

What Cookies We Use
NBacking uses exactly one cookie:
- Name: Session ID
- Purpose: Authentication — maintains your logged-in state
- Type: Strictly Necessary
- Duration: Session (expires on browser close or after server timeout)
- Consent Required: No
Why No Cookie Banner
NBacking uses only a single authentication session cookie. Under Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive (as interpreted by Article 29 Working Party Opinion WP194), cookies that are strictly necessary to provide a service explicitly requested by the user are exempt from the prior consent requirement.
Our session cookie meets this exemption because:
- It is used solely to maintain the authenticated session you explicitly requested by logging in.
- The login service cannot be provided without it.
- It is not used for any other purpose.
What We Do NOT Use
- No analytics cookies
- No marketing or advertising cookies
- No third-party cookies of any kind
- No fingerprinting or tracking technologies
- No social media widgets or embeds that set cookies
CAPTCHA
Our CAPTCHA system (ALTCHA) is entirely self-hosted. It does not set cookies, does not contact external servers, and does not track users. Challenge tokens are verified server-side and stored only to prevent replay attacks.
If This Changes
If we ever introduce non-essential cookies, we will implement a proper cookie consent mechanism before deploying them, update this policy, and obtain your explicit consent before setting any non-essential cookies.
